Paris Fashion Week brought more than just couture to the runway—it also delivered a thrilling glimpse of the upcoming sequel to the cult classic “Beetlejuice.” Titled “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” this long-awaited sequel promises to captivate audiences once again with its eerie charm and twisted humor.
The first teaser for the film, released on March 21, gave fans a taste of what’s to come. Jenna Ortega, the newest addition to the franchise, was showcased cycling past Miss Shannon’s School for Girls to the iconic tune of “Day-O.” Alongside her were familiar faces Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, hinting at a reunion filled with mischief and mayhem.
Set to hit cinemas on September 6, 2024, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” follows three generations of the Deetz family as they return to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life takes a dramatic turn when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, stumbles upon a mysterious model of the town in the attic, inadvertently opening a portal to the afterlife. With chaos brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time before Beetlejuice returns to wreak havoc once again.
The star-studded cast includes Michael Keaton reprising his iconic role as Beetlejuice, alongside Ryder and O’Hara returning as Delia and Lydia Deetz. Joining them are Monica Bellucci as Beetlejuice’s wife and Willem Dafoe as a former B-movie action star turned police officer in the afterlife.
Despite facing delays due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the film’s production is back on track, with only a few days of filming left to complete. Director Tim Burton promises a return to the handmade charm of the original film, focusing on practical effects and puppetry to bring the Beetlejuice universe to life once again.
As anticipation builds for the sequel’s release, fans can expect a mix of nostalgia and fresh twists as they revisit the strange and unusual world of Beetlejuice. And with rumors of a potential third installment swirling, it seems the ghost with the most is here to stay for years to come.
