Colombian singer Karol G stole the spotlight at the Billboard Women in Music Awards on Wednesday, March 6, shimmering in a sheer gown from Zuhair Murad’s Spring/Summer 2024 Couture collection. The stunning dress featured an open back and a scooping halter neckline that wrapped around her neck like a choker, all adorned with sparkling crystals.
Karol glowed from head to toe, completing her look with bedazzled silver platform heels, diamond rings, and her signature baby-pink hair styled into a half-up, half-down ‘do with loose waves.
“If you asked me, ‘Karol, what would be your dream?’ That your name be recognized worldwide. That would be amazing,” she shared with Billboard one year ago in 2023.
This year, Karol was honored as Billboard’s Woman of the Year, a recognition she humbly described as the most significant award she could receive in her life.
“I always fight a lot being a woman in this industry, and to have Woman of the Year is kind of crazy. It’s a lot of responsibility but it’s…I don’t know. I’m super proud of my team, of my family, of the people that trust in me, of the women that work so much, and me being here, I’m super, like, I can’t believe it, but I’m super happy that it’s the reality,” she expressed on the red carpet.
Reflecting on her journey to success, Karol credited her parents’ unwavering support for making her dreams possible.
“For so many years—not one, not two, not three, many years—everyone thought my goal of becoming a singer was a joke. It was a challenge to keep believing in myself,” she revealed to ELLE last year. “And if it wasn’t for my parents convincing me that I could make it, I would have felt ashamed and abandoned the whole thing.”
