Laura Dern Excited for Taylor Swift’s Directorial Debut

During a recent podcast interview, Laura Dern, renowned actress and collaborator with Taylor Swift, expressed her anticipation for Swift’s venture into filmmaking. Dern, 57, praised Swift’s multifaceted talent, stating that Swift’s potential success as a Hollywood filmmaker wouldn’t surprise her.

Having collaborated with Swift on the music video for “Bejeweled” in 2022, where Swift directed and starred, Laura Dern commended Swift’s directorial skills and expressed eagerness to witness her further creative endeavors. Reflecting on their collaboration, Dern fondly recalled her experience working with Swift and expressed her willingness to collaborate with her again in the future.

While Swift’s involvement in Dern’s Apple TV+ series Palm Royale hasn’t been confirmed, Dern and her production partner Jayme Lemons are open to the idea of teaming up with Swift on future projects. In fact, they playfully pitched a collaboration titled “Jaywalker (Taylor’s Version),” highlighting their production company, Jaywalk Pictures, and Swift’s re-recorded albums.

Swift’s directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures, announced in December 2022, has sparked excitement within the industry. Although details about the project remain under wraps, Swift’s involvement as a writer and director signifies a significant milestone in her career. Searchlight executives praised Swift as a “once in a generation artist and storyteller,” expressing enthusiasm for their collaboration.

As Swift prepares for the European leg of her Eras Tour and the release of her upcoming album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” on April 19, her foray into filmmaking adds another dimension to her diverse artistic repertoire. Fans eagerly await Swift’s directorial debut, anticipating yet another impressive chapter in her remarkable career trajectory.
